Once you've bought your ticket to Costa Rica, take some time
to decide
what coast
you want to
fish. The
choices
begin on the
northern
area of the
Pacific
coast. The
Gulf of
Papagayo
offers
excellent
opportunities
for cubera,
snapper,
roosterfish,
sailfish,
marlin,
dolfin,
yellowfin
and wahoo.
Most of the experienced operators that run out of the area
suggest
heading to
the waters
surrounding
the small
group of
islands
called Islas
Murcielagos
to the north
of the
Papagayo
Gulf or to
Catalinas
Islands down
south of it.
While many operators are optimistic when taking anglers out,
they
maintain
that the
fishing
depends
primarily on
the
prevailing
conditions
such as:
wind, rain,
moon and
currents
often
determine
the
availability
of many of
the most
popular big
game fish,
but rest
assured that
if they can
find the
schools for
you they
will.
Many of the sportsfishing groups operate inshore as well as
offshore
fishing
charters and
be assured
that you
will have a
live time
fishing
adventure
with
Guanacaste
Fishing
Charters.
