Ontario Canada's Top
Secret Walleye Heaven Fishing Vacation Excursion!
By Dave Reed |

I’m about to
let you in
on details
of a
walleye
fishing
trip
of a
lifetime
that I have
been
fortunate
enough to
have
experienced
myself
several
times. Without
hesitation,
this
particular destination
is
definitely
worth
keeping
as our
little secret! OK
...it is
available to
anyone
that's been fortunate
enough to
find it but
because of
its
limited
access and
outstanding lodge
facilities,
the few lucky anglers
that already know
about this
lake have
been telling
each other
to keep this
as
their
private secret
walleye lake for
years. One
host of a nationally
syndicated
fishing show
actually films here
annually and
still
refuses
to
divulge
the lake's
name and
location!
Just imagine,
an extremely large
lake in
Ontario that
is all
"crown land"
(which means
that it has been
legally protected
from being overdeveloped
by the
Ontario
government).
Also
imagine a
lake with
over 400
miles of
shoreline
and
absolutely
no
access by roads
going
to any of its
lodges. The
big surprise
is that it
is not a
fly-in lake
either. The
couple lodges
that are on this lake
have
comfortable first class
lodging
packages
with well
maintained
boats, very clean
cabins, and
an American
meal plan
that is
actually so
good you'll
want to come back
just for the
awesome food. |

The
Ontario Resources Ministry and also the lodges themselves
strictly enforce their own conservation limits and have a rather wide
protected slot limit from 17 inches to 24 inches. Because of
this slot, overfishing is
not likely to ever be a problem here. If you want to take meat
home, this is probably not going to be the lake for you. But if your
goal is to catch lots of walleye and also have the opportunity
to catch the largest walleye in your lifetime, this vacation
destination will be your
dream come true. I have seen walleye over 25 inches
caught every week and true giant walleye over 30 inch
are not uncommon. There is no such thing as a
catch guarantee in fishing but this lake sure comes close. In
2007, myself and another angler caught my
current record of 63 walleye in only three hours one evening!
The lake
itself is very large and has two distinctly different
ends. One
end is a bit shallower and more protected from the wind while the other end
tends to be a lot more open with deep and potentially
rougher waters. The shallower end
is known for its tremendous numbers of walleye while the
deeper end has a reputation for more consistently producing
the most trophy fish. The amazing thing about this lake is that
you can catch fish all day on this lake and you may never
see another boat. |

During your
excursion you
definitely will be able to see Canada's great Northern
Outdoors and wildlife
that you will want to have your camera along for photographs. Bear sightings are not uncommon and
moose will occasionally be seen grazing in the back bays. Both Bald
and
Golden Eagles soar over the water searching for a quick
meal. Hundreds of Loons
use this lake to raise
their young. Hummingbirds are everywhere and will often
just hover beside any angler that is wearing a bright red or yellow
jacket. The overwhelming beauty of this location can
actually be almost too distracting for the "avid" angler. The
water is so crystal clear that some people will just take a cup instead
of water bottles.
Walleye
are not the only species available here. Smallmouth bass and
northern pike are also abundant during certain seasons but
are rarely ever targeted because of the popularity of the
walleye in this lake. Other species available include
northern pike, perch, lake
trout, suckers, and brook trout. I have also caught a few
very rare blue walleye. |

Just how
many walleye could you expect to catch per day? I have seen
inexperienced anglers that will not catch a walleye in
three days of hard fishing! This lake is very large and it would take two
lifetimes to ever fish all the possible areas. There are
never more than a few anglers at any given time on this lake.
Inexperienced anglers won’t be able to join large groups of boats sitting on a hot
spot. Another problem is safe navigation.
Bringing your own boat is definitely not recommended to newcomers
because this lake has a tremendous number of "invisible"
massive rocks laying
just below the water surface just about everywhere you go.
Lower units can be damaged on
just trying to get to the lodge! One lodge
owner recently told me that only losing 25 lower units a season would
be a good year for him!
I guess that
I got
off track. Let's get back
to the original question about how many walleye you might
expect to catch. Many times I have
located such massive schools that I
was able to catch walleye all day, every day, every time
that I
dropped my line! Although this isn’t normal
or even easy to do, it is indicative of the fact that catching twenty
or thirty walleye per day can be very normal.

Planning: The actual Fishing Excursion runs seven days from Saturday
arrival to Saturday departure but Friday will also be a travel day
just getting to the lake. We will stay in a motel near the lake on
Friday evening. Saturday will be a travel day departing from
the lake after breakfast and,
depending on your location, we will drive straight through
to your starting point or stop and finish the trip back on
Sunday. This trip can be fashioned around your location and
available timeframe after we have had an opportunity to
discuss it.
This
walleye
dream trip is
"all inclusive" meaning everything that you
will need is already provided. If you have just one angler
it will be a flat $2500 for the entire excursion.
I can also accommodate two anglers per trip for just
$1900 each. If you have
questions please email me. I’ll do my best to help
you get everything arranged to your convenience. These accommodations
are some of the absolute best that you can find
anywhere in Canada.
